a bcd (bacolod) trip - the adventure

Waking up at 2am from a 10 minute nap to prepare, leaving at 3am and checking in for an early flight to Bacolod. As I've mentioned in my previos BCD post, this trip is one of my many FIRSTS.

This is my first time to depart via Cebu Pacific at the terminal 3. It is big I can tell. One thing that's funny is that we rode a bus/coaster from the gate to the actual plane passing the airport landing. At first I was joking with my friend Jershey telling her "we are not really going to ride a plane instead just a bus." And seriously shock, we did rode a bus although we still rode a plane.

Upon arrival at the airport, we were waiting for someone who will pick us up. By the way, we stayed at ms. Diwi's Mansion and we called it that way! You could see for yourself, it is for us a mansion. We were lucky enough to have our accommodation offered by one of our colleagues who unfortunately wasn't there with us in the trip.

Back to the airport. We waited for an hour, we were somehow troubled by that time by I think Tito Jerry forgot to pick us up. And then he arrived in a BMW! Oh common! Are you kidding me?! A BMW to pick us up and roam around the city (ANOTHER FIRST), plus a mansion...but wait there's more!

We then had our breakfast at Kuppa restaurant then head to the bus station for our LAKAWON BEACH.

Going there we need to ride a bus for about an hour, then a tricycle and a boat. The beach was peaceful, not a lot of guests were there when we arrived it's around noon and the heat of the sun is really burning. Since I'm not a fan of sun we just took a 30 min dip then picture taking, then a seafood sumptuous lunch!!! YUM!

And finally a dinner at Bar 21. We tasted the affordable and tasty BATCHOY! YUM. And finally...home sweet home! LIGHTS OFF...and the rest I've been wanting to have. SLEEP!

DAY 2!

Since we all had a good night sleep, we are then fully recharged! The second we were supposed to have breakfast in a restaurant. Blessed as I could say we went down the stairs and voila! - there's food! Who wouldn't say no to a hearty Filipino breakfast? I won't actually I won't in any kind of meal...or food. :) SO we ate and then we met Tita Malu and her family. Then we headed to MAMBUKAL.

I could say that MAMBUKAL is an adventure. Good thing we slept for more than 8 hours coz if not we won't be able to reach until the 7th falls. It was amazing! Truly breath taking. Again my first time to really see a waterfall and not just one but seven of them. Although partly six I think coz the 4th waterfall can't really be seen by that time. Anyway, adventure coz we were so tired. As in super tired. Not much of a work out for us so we were sweating and catching our breath while walking those slope and crossing the river and then what's really funny is that 2 little kids, like little kids with thin hands were there with our guide to assist us. I know I was not even sure at first if the kid can assist me. I'm big definitely and it's hard to push myself up and down those stones we were walking through. BUT! They were definitely awesome. They were very helpful and they even like to take pictures of us. I love those kids that's why I owe them big time. I know they won't be able to read this but KUDOS to them!

After our waterfall trekking adventure, we can't take it anymore. I don't want to go back again the same route so we took the fast lane and that's to ride a motorcycle in a bumpy and fast road. This was crazy. I never wanted to ride a motorcycle but it's a no other choice situation and so I did, luckily I am still alive. The ride was really scary!!! But it's again an experience wooohoooo....ANOTHER FIRST!

Then we had our lunch and we roam around the area and another wonderful spot is the hot spring! Freakin' hot spring but so relaxing! That's really good especially for the older ones I think they need to experience that and so I RECOMMEND! :)

For dinner, Tita Malu picked us up and we went to Chicken House to taste the famous Bacolod Chicken and wow...I've been so bloated but I can't stop eating! This trip has a lot of food trip and adventure and all the people were so great! I just couldn't ask for more...but wait there's more still. We went for a tour at the city hall where the lights were so great even at night a lot of people were there, bystanders, students, dogs too. And a tour ride around the area and last stop - another food trip! I just didn't know where did all those food fit it. We had for dessert is Calea Cakes. There are lots of restaurant in the area and we visited Calea. Cakes were good and what we did we ordered 5 different cakes so we could taste it all. YUM!

DAY 3

Long night coz when we went back we had chit chats with Mrs. Montalbo about the house, the area, the places she visited and other stuff too..We were just there talking and it was really great! Third and final day, I know I would want to stay still but we have to go. We had another round of great breakfast and then lunch at Lord Byron's back ribs! Imagine ribs for around php150.00 I guess, who wouldn't dive in this offer??? It is BIG, TASTY, and AFFORDABLE! Definitely a-must try in Bacolod. I'll definitely go back and satisfy my cravings. Even when I'm writing at this very moment I could imagine the ribs and it's killing me coz it's 1am now and I'm CRAVING!!!

The place was so simple. A nipa hut, chairs were just benches and wooden tables, no aircon, and just a very simple, little place. It's not even located in the areas along the other restaurants. It's like in a subdivision and still a lot of people go there to have this very much satisfying treat! Seriously I'm really carving for it now!

After our lunch, we went to buy some accessorize and the MELONA ice cream treat! Dessert again! Then we head back to Diwi's mansion for a pictorial. We just couldn't let it pass.

Another stop before we head back to the airport...THE RUINS! A must-see place. It was actually built by Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson in honor of his deceased wife Doña Maria Braga in 1911. In 1942, the mansion was put into fire for 3 days by the guerrilla fighters and as they say...the rest is history!  As much as I wanted to tell the story it's the tour guide, Mr. Roger Lacson who made us all laugh and wanting for more info about the place. He's really good and very much entertaining!

Well much has been written in this post but still not enough. The experience itself is one of a kind and super WORTH IT! This trip has been so meaningful to me and I'm glad I was there with my friends. We didn't mind any diet at all and we just ate - A LOT! A many firsts and more to come. Next stop - INTERNATIONAL TOUR!
